We are now in our fourth month in a row of below average temperatures. It is still entirely possible that we may even get more snow. There are still a few banks of snow left and some patches in low areas in the heavily forested regions around the Brainerd Lakes. At least, the lakes had no ice remaining for our Governor's fishing opener.
I am taking a week off soon to go warm up in Florida, enough is enough. I will be bringing my staging partner back with me, after another long year of college in the sunny state.

Kathleen: Have a great trip. See if you can bring back some of that sunshine ! And... what a gorgeous picture you have shared with us. I love riverbanks, trees and the peace a setting like that brings. Take care...
Thank you Karen Anne - I will grab all the sunshine I can and maybe something from the "Happiest Place On Earth" too. I leave the 27th.
Kathleen...Love the pic...I see the lower temp as not melting the northen "Ice Pack" LOL Have a great trip.
Thanks William - I have finally put away my "pack boots" and have graduated to my Fall wear.
Kathleen - Great picture. We actually reached 71 degrees today according to my deck thermometer. Try it out in Southern MN for awhile - it must be the place to be.
Lynn- I know there is a whole plant zone difference between Brainerd and the Twin Cities - south is warmer.
Kathleen, I don't blame you a bit, I call this the winter that never ended. We are on most days about 20 degrees below normal....for May that is unheard of. I already made my plans to spend at least a month in Florida next winter--thank goodness for friends :) Have a wonderful time.
Carole - It now seems that we have entered the rainy season here in the Brainerd Lakes, but at least it hasn't turned to snow lately.
Kathleen~ How was the trip to Florida by the way? I bet you are so happy to have your "staging partner" back for a while.......
Vickie -I don't leave until the 27th and am really busy right now. That happens when you need to go somewhere. It will all work out. We will wave while driving thru Kentucky in your direction.
44 degrees here today and raining - the grass still thinks it is Spring and is greening up anyway.
I am enjoying the freshness of the cool air. This is the best sleeping weather! (*silver lining*)
Kristine - It certainly is getting more Spring like every day & those cool nights - awwww- that too is Minnesota.
