Driving Minnesota on the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway

The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway was officially designated as a State byway in 1998 and in the year 2005, earned a National designation because of the national significance of our area resort history.  The byway runs for 54 miles and is full of fun, fables and history.  It truly fits the ability of byways to make automotive travel enjoyable.  The primary mode of transportation for trips of 100 miles or more is the automobile.

Come drive the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway and admire our sparkling lakes with deep and rich tales of history interwoven with stories of Paul Bunyan.  See the hills and valleys with varied historical settlements of immigrants to our area long before statehood. If you like- bring Miss Daisy along and let her drive for awhile.

My daughters had their picture taken by a huge Paul Bunyan statue last summer while touring the state.  We were in so many places, that I cannot remember which city it was in.  It's got to be somewhere on that highway.

Kathleen, that sounds like a nice roadtrip. Someone recently posted photo's of several Paul Bunyan statues throughout the country and I think one of them was in MN.

Debbie - I added the one of PB in our amusement park - he is 26 feet tall and talks to people, calling them by name. I will have to do a blog on the big guy, himself.
